Feeling

I feel the presence within me,
of a feeling long ago forgotten,
swelling within my heart,
as a child now begotten.

though it brings great elation,
it also envelopes a shadowy doubt,
peeking from its confines,
and setting short-lived fears about.

should I, could he, would he love me,
if ever given a half a chance,
if ever my heart will allow,
to bend somewhat in circumstance.

or perhaps such fears are not so short lived,
as they had first to seem,
for there in lies the doubt:
is this real or but a dream?
